Berlioz HAROLD IN ITALY

Saturday, November 21, 2015 – 7:30 PM

Washington Pavilion

Event Overview:

Composer Sumi Tonooka joins the orchestra for a week-long residency which culminates in a performance of her jazz-inspired Full circle. The New York Times calls Tonooka “provocative and compelling,” while the Jazz Times depicts her as a “fierce, fascinating composer and pianist.”

Principal violist Aaron Tubergen brings to life a popular Romantic-era programmatic work, Berlioz’s Harold in Italy, which was inspired by Lord Byron’s narrative poem Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage.
