SDSO League

South Dakota Symphony Orchestra League

What is the League?
The league is a group of more than 100 volunteers dedicated to supporting the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra by promoting and encouraging an understanding, appreciation and study of the art of music.

What does the League do?
We provide adult education opportunities through concert preview luncheons where the guest artist is often present. We help introduce area preschoolers to instruments and music through our Pied Piper program. Our docents help prepare area grade-schoolers for the annual Young People's Concerts. We support young musicians through our financial support of the Young Musician Competition. We also support the Symphony directly through concert sponsorship and contributions to their general operating budget.

How often does the League meet?
A board of directors, elected from the general membership meets monthly from September to May. Following the board meetings, a league member luncheon and special event is usually held. All league members and music lovers are invited and encouraged to attend.

How does the League raise funds?
Our financial support comes through our annual membership drive and our Poinsettia sale, which has become a holiday tradition for many.

How can I become involved?
Your participation is welcome at any level. Even if you are not able to provide volunteer support at this time, we appreciate the financial support of your membership!
