A native of Taipei, Taiwan, violinist, violist, and pianist Yi-Chun Lin has served as concertmaster of orchestras in New York, Taiwan, and music festivals worldwide. She has performed as soloist with the Texas Music Festival Orchestra, the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan, and the Akademische Orchester at the Gewanhaus concert hall in Leipzig. As the Associate Principal Second Violin at the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, she is also a passionate music educator and chamber musician.
Along with her quartets in the past, she has performed on WQXR radio station in New York, won the bronze medal at Fischoff competition, and received chamber music residency from various programs, such as the Banff Music Festival. Ms. Lin received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in violin performance from the Manhattan School of Music and the Mannes College in New York. In 2015, she received her doctorate from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Among the musicians who are important to her life, violinist Lucie Robert and Aaron Berofsky were mentors to her musical and inspirational journey. With a curious mind, Ms. Lin constantly looks for new dimensions in music through different types of musical and art projects.
