Young People’s Concerts are designed for schools, homeschools, and families looking for an outstanding educational and engaging orchestra experience. Concerts are held in the acoustically superb Mary W. Sommervold Hall of the Washington Pavilion in downtown Sioux Falls.
Assistant conductor Thomas Fortner guides students through the music using narration and an introduction to the instruments. The performances are captured on film by South Dakota Public Broadcasting for later airing. This program is unique in that it is part of the Sioux Falls Public School System’s curriculum. Recommended for grades 3-6.
